Terms of service
Last updated 18 September 2026.
These terms govern your use of the renewal reminder service provided by Never Lapse. Never Lapse is a trading name of Isaac Harrison. Contact: hello@neverlapse.co.uk.
1. What we do
You give us renewal dates for your business. We send you reminder emails before each date, and continue sending them after the date has passed until you tell us the renewal is complete. That is the entire service.
2. What we do not do
- We do not renew anything on your behalf, and we never will without asking.
- We do not contact your insurer, certification body, or any third party about your affairs.
- We do not hold, handle, or move your money, beyond the subscription fee you pay us.
- We do not give insurance, legal, financial, or regulatory advice. If you need to know whether a particular certificate is required for a particular job, ask the body that issues it.
3. The dates are yours
We remind you of the dates you give us. We do not independently verify them against any register, and we have no way of knowing if a date you supply is wrong or if a renewal period changes. Keeping the underlying obligations met — being insured, being certified, being road legal — remains entirely your responsibility. This service reduces the chance you forget. It does not transfer the duty.
4. Price and payment
£9.99 per month, billed in advance by card through Stripe, our payment processor. The price covers your business and every renewal date you ask us to track. Never Lapse is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged and none is recoverable on this fee.
We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before any price change, and you can cancel in that window if you would rather not pay it.
5. Cancelling
Reply to any email from us and say you want to cancel, or cancel from the receipt Stripe sends you. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee.
Reminders stop when the cancellation takes effect, and that is not always the end of the month. Cancelling through Stripe normally takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and your reminders run until then. If you ask us to cancel straight away, or if the subscription ends because a payment failed, the reminders stop at that point instead. We would rather set that out here than have you waiting on a reminder that is not coming.
If cancelling that way leaves you having paid for days you did not get, email us and we will refund them. We do not otherwise refund part-months as a matter of course. If something has gone wrong at our end, email us and we will put it right — refunds included.
6. Delivery is not guaranteed
Reminders are sent by email. Email is not a guaranteed medium: messages are delayed, filtered as spam, sent to full mailboxes, and bounced by systems outside our control. We take reasonable care to send reliably, but we cannot promise every message will arrive, and you should not treat this service as your only safeguard against a lapse.
If you stop receiving reminders you expected, that is a fault worth reporting. Please tell us.
7. Our liability
This clause limits what we owe you. It does not try to sign it away. That is deliberate: sending reminders is the only thing we do, so a term saying we are never liable for a reminder that did not arrive would be asking you to pay for a promise we had not made. Under section 3 of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 a term like that has to be reasonable to be enforceable, and one covering the whole substance of the service would struggle. A court that struck it out would leave us with no limit at all. A limit that holds is worth more, to both of us, than an exclusion that does not.
What we are responsible for. We will use reasonable care and skill to record the dates you give us and to send the reminders described in clause 1 at the times published on this site. If we do not — a reminder we never sent, a date we recorded wrongly after you gave it to us correctly, a fault you told us about that we did not put right — we are liable for the loss that failure causes you, up to the limit below.
What we are not responsible for. We are not liable for loss arising from a date you gave us that was wrong, or from a renewal you never asked us to track; from your own decision not to act on a reminder you received; or from a message we sent properly that was then delayed, filtered or refused by a mail system outside our control, which is why clause 6 asks you not to make this your only safeguard. Nor are we liable for indirect or consequential loss.
The limit. Our total liability for all claims arising out of this service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We believe that is reasonable and would say so in front of a judge: the fee is £9.99 a month, keeping the underlying policy or certificate in force stays your responsibility under clause 3, clause 6 tells you plainly not to rely on us alone, and the loss a lapse could cause is a risk your own insurer can price and we cannot.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Each paragraph of this clause stands on its own. If a court decides that one of them goes too far, the others continue to apply.
8. Suspending or ending the service
We may end your subscription with 30 days’ notice, refunding any period paid for but not delivered. We may end it immediately if payment fails and is not resolved, or if the service is used unlawfully or abusively.
9. Your data
Covered separately in our privacy notice. In short: we use your details to run the service, we do not sell them, and paying us is not consent to marketing.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to pay after that is acceptance; if you would rather not accept, cancel.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
12. Complaints
Email hello@neverlapse.co.uk. You will get a reply from a person, normally within two working days.
